Middle grade meshes are 95% density, and are a good middle ground that will help keep your pool a little cleaner than standard mesh, while still allowing water to drain through at a reasonable rate.
Upgraded, 98% to 99% mesh materials will keep your pool clean similar to a solid with drain cover, they are a very dense weave material, and can drain slow if they aren’t installed tightly enough or if there is a lot of debris on top. Upgraded meshes are one of the most popular choices, and usually have the longest warranties.

Mesh Safety Pool Covers are made of a woven polypropylene material that’s designed to be stretched across the pool, and secured with straps and heavy duty springs to brass anchors installed around the pool’s perimeter in the decking.
Mesh Safety Pool Covers are generally lighter than solid safety covers, and we do in general see them lasting longer than solid covers, due to the more resilient nature of the polypropylene material, and they do keep almost all debris out of your pool.
There are different grades of mesh safety covers available, with varying warranty lengths, construction, mesh density, and of course price points.
Standard Safety Mesh is around 90% to 92% density mesh and will keep most debris out of your pool, but if your pool gets a lot of sun in the winter, you may want a higher density mesh to reduce algae growth.
